Sean Wensley

Dr Sean Wensley is Senior Veterinarian for Animal Welfare and Professional Engagement at the UK veterinary charity PDSA (the People’s Dispensary for Sick Animals) and has been President of the British Veterinary Association and chair of the Animal Welfare Working Group of the Federation of Veterinarians of Europe.

The Veterinary Sustainability Goals highlight how veterinary professionals are addressing the multiple sustainability challenges facing society.    Dr Wensley will discuss these and in particular the well established link between abuse of animals and people, and that refuges acknowledge that women can be reluctant to leave violent homes because of threats to their much-loved pets.

Securing a good life for animals contributes to the UN SDGs, particularly including Zero Hunger and Good Health and Well Being, and the production of safe, nutritious, accessible food for all.

Dr Wensley is passionate about this and the importance of having women in leadership to achieve the challenging goals of his profession.
