About SI Dublin 2023

Soroptimist International (SI) is a worldwide organisation, recognised by the UN, with members in over 122 countries, which works through members working nationally and internationally to achieve our aim of transforming the lives of women and girls.

The SI Convention, which takes place every 4 years, will be held at the Convention Centre Dublin in July 2023. The last two conventions have been held in Kuala Lumpar and Istanbul.

  • Soroptimist International consists of 5 Federations namely the Americas, Europe, Africa, the South West Pacific, Great Britain and Ireland (SIGBI) – this Federation includes Asia, the Caribbean and Malta. We are a global women’s organisation with a network of over 75,000 members in 122 countries throughout the world.
  • Our members represent a wide range of professions, talents and interests and together we are committed to transforming the lives of women and girls, assisting them to achieve their individual and collective potential, realise aspirations and to have an equal voice in creating strong, peaceful communities worldwide.
  •  Our mantra is to: ‘Educate, Empower and Enable’ women and girls and we do this through our diverse variety of projects, operating at local, national and international levels. In particular, we actively contribute to the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, supporting the 2030 Agenda.
  • Many of our projects respond to the needs of marginalised women and girls in today’s society. A global volunteer movement, we also work at local level to transform the lives of women and girls internationally.
  • Our members work with a number of international networks and partners when carrying out our project work and we also currently have representation at the United Nations, with General Consultative Status at the Economic & Social Counsel (ECOSOC). We are represented by our volunteer members at the seven major UN Centres, thus ensuring that the knowledge and expertise of our members are shared with the policy makers.
